THE EXPERIENCE

counter- is an intimate, full sensory dining experience featuring themed tasting menus created by Executive Chef and Founder Sam Hart (they/them). Owned and operated as a collective effort amongst employees with a shared mission to change the industry, counter- is designed to evoke emotion throughout the progressive dining experience, fully immersing guests by utilizing sound, taste, and art as a vehicle. The menu, which rotates quarterly, is driven by sense-based storylines such as music, modern art, and mental health.

THE DESIGN

Purposefully designed to mimic a blank canvas and features muted concrete floors and countertops that can easily be transformed to fit the rotating menus, tableware, and art that accompany each quarterly theme.

THE DETAILS

Similar to a theatrical performance, counter- is a shared experience with seatings Tuesday through Saturday. Seating is limited to 18 guests per service, and reservations are required.

Wine and spirit-free beverage pairings are available.

Please be respectful of all parties during your seating. Please be aware that counter- may not be the right choice for a business discussion dinner or a rowdy night out on the town. Certain seasonal themes may not be suitable for children under the age of 18, so please be sure to contact us in advance at reservations@counterclt.com.

Executive Chef/Founder Sam Hart aspires for counter- to be an incubator for rising star chefs, providing them a place for empowerment, guidance, and inspiration to open their own concepts in Charlotte, while also elevating experiences in Hart’s own hometown.
